Job Description

Publisher Partnership Manager — Traditional Media\n

Bear Alley Marketing is seeking a relationship-driven Publisher Partnership Manager to build, manage, and grow partnerships with traditional media publishers.

\n

\n

This role is ideal for someone who understands the traditional media landscape—including print, broadcast, out-of-home, radio, and publisher-led advertising opportunities—and knows how to turn strong media relationships into high-impact marketing programs. You will identify the right publisher partners, negotiate strategic opportunities, coordinate campaigns, manage deliverables, and ensure every placement supports the client’s audience, business objectives, and broader marketing strategy.

\n

\n

You’ll work closely with clients, agency account leads, media strategists, creative teams, and publisher representatives to develop programs that are thoughtful, commercially sound, well-executed, and measurable.

\n

What You’ll Do\n
    \n
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with traditional media publishers, media companies, broadcast groups, print outlets, radio networks, out-of-home partners, and related advertising vendors.
  • \n
  • Serve as Bear Alley Marketing’s primary day-to-day contact for assigned publisher and media partner relationships.
  • \n
  • Research and evaluate publisher opportunities based on audience fit, market reach, editorial alignment, inventory availability, pricing, timing, and projected campaign value.
  • \n
  • Develop strategic media recommendations for clients, including print, newspaper, magazine, radio, television, sponsorship, advertorial, event, direct-mail, out-of-home, and integrated publisher packages.
  • \n
  • Negotiate rates, added value, placements, deliverables, make-goods, timelines, and partnership terms to maximize client investment.
  • \n
  • Coordinate media plans and campaign execution from proposal through launch, delivery, reporting, reconciliation, and post-campaign review.
  • \n
  • Partner with internal account, strategy, creative, and performance teams to ensure publisher programs integrate effectively with digital, CRM, social, paid media, and broader brand campaigns.
  • \n
  • Manage insertion orders, media agreements, production specifications, deadlines, trafficking details, invoices, proof of performance, and campaign documentation.
  • \n
  • Review publisher reporting and campaign delivery to verify that contracted placements, impressions, circulation, sponsorship benefits, and other deliverables are fulfilled.
  • \n
  • Track budgets, pacing, spend, and vendor invoices; flag discrepancies and work with publishers and internal operations teams to resolve them quickly.
  • \n
  • Identify partnership opportunities that go beyond standard media buys, including custom content, editorial collaborations, brand integrations, local-market activations, sponsored events, and audience-development programs.
  • \n
  • Prepare client-ready media recommendations, partnership summaries, campaign updates, and performance recaps.
  • \n
  • Stay current on shifts in the traditional media landscape, including publisher consolidation, audience trends, local media opportunities, cross-platform packages, and measurement approaches.
  • \n
  • Maintain organized publisher contact records, rate cards, audience data, media kits, contract templates, and historical campaign learnings.
  • \n
What You Bring\n
    \n
  • 3+ years of experience in media partnerships, media buying, publisher sales, account management, advertising, or traditional media planning.
  • \n
  • Strong familiarity with traditional media channels such as print, newspapers, magazines, broadcast TV, radio, out-of-home, direct mail, and local-market media.
  • \n
  • Existing relationships with media publishers, broadcast groups, local outlets, or advertising vendors are strongly preferred.
  • \n
  • Demonstrated experience evaluating media proposals, negotiating rates and value-added opportunities, and managing campaign execution.
  • \n
  • Comfort with media concepts and metrics such as circulation, readership, reach, frequency, CPM, impressions, share of voice, market coverage, sponsorship value, and campaign delivery.
  • \n
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to balance relationship-building with client budget discipline and performance expectations.
  • \n
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present media recommendations clearly and confidently to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • \n
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and dependable with contracts, deadlines, invoices, deliverables, and campaign documentation.
  • \n
  • Ability to manage multiple publisher relationships, media plans, clients, and production timelines in a fast-paced agency environment.
  • \n
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office; experience with media-planning, CRM, project-management, or reporting platforms is a plus.
  • \n
What Success Looks Like\n

You will be successful in this role when clients see Bear Alley Marketing as a well-connected, strategic partner in the traditional media landscape—not simply a media buyer.

\n

Success includes:

\n
    \n
  • Building publisher relationships that create preferred access, stronger negotiations, and unique opportunities for clients.
  • \n
  • Delivering media programs that reach the right audiences and support clear brand, awareness, demand-generation, or market-expansion goals.
  • \n
  • Securing competitive pricing, meaningful added value, and reliable execution from media partners.
  • \n
  • Ensuring every campaign is organized, delivered accurately, and reconciled responsibly.
  • \n
  • Bringing forward proactive partnership ideas that help clients stand out in their markets.
  • \n
  • Connecting traditional media investments to an integrated marketing strategy and, whenever possible, measurable business outcomes.
  • \n
About Bear Alley Marketing\n

\n

If you have a deep appreciation for the power of trusted media brands, enjoy building long-term publisher relationships, and know how to create partnerships that make a real business impact, we’d love to hear from you.
